Script Execution

Once scripts are created, they can be used for performing different tasks in different tools.

Scripts created in QTP/Winrunner can be run individually or from Quality Center. These can be executed locally by Team Leads/SMEs or remotely by our experts.

Scripts created in LoadRunner can be used to create virtual users in Loadrunner/Performance Center. Our experts can also play role in running/configuring Load-Test Scenarios remotely as well as analyzing, interpreting results and reporting application bottlenecks. We can identify monitors that should be configured based on application topology.

Application Performance Monitoring in Production:

Script can be used in monitoring critical Business Processes in Business Availability Center. Scripts created for pre-production environment i.e. Performance/Functional Testing can be re-used in BPM (Business Process Monitor) after doing modifications in URLs or other parameters.

Our Approach

We have different ways of creating scripts, our client can choose option suited best in their environment.

• Application access open on web

  This is easiest method in which no additional modification required on either side i.e. our side or client in order to do recording/creation of script. Since application is on standard HTTP/HTTPS protocol, script can be created in Vugen/QTP/Winrunner based on requirements.

• Opening ports in Firewall for specific IP range

  In this case, if application is not open to public, firewall on client side can be configured to open access to HTTP/HTTPS requests coming from certain range of IPs (provided by Ark Microsystems). Once the firewall on client side is configured, application can be accessed like any other application on web by giving URL like http://1.2.3.4:8090

• RDP Access to physical machines in Client’s Environment

  If application is other than web application e.g. ODBC or Oracle 2 Tier, we need access to physical machine on client side where Vugen, QTP or Wirunner is installed along with application client. With this method, our expert can log on to the windows machine using Remote Desktop Protocol or Terminal Service Client and use tools installed locally on that machine to record script against AUT

• Remote access to machine using CITRIX

  This method is similar to RDP, only difference being CITRIX. Instead of using Remote Desktop Protocol from Microsoft, we can access physical machine using CITRIX client and gain access to desktop of machine in client’s environment. Once we have access to desktop, tools installed locally on that machine will be used to create scripts.

Delivery Method

Once scripts are created and verified, we can deliver those to client using following options

• Upload Scripts directly to Quality Center

  If client is using Quality Center for QA department and can give access to Ark Microsystems, we can directly upload scripts to relevant project and link it to requirements.

• Upload Scripts to Performance Center

  If client is using Performance Center for doing loadtesting and can provide access to Ark Microsystems, we can upload scripts directly to relevant project.

• Transfer via FTP/HTTP

  Client can download scripts from our FTP / HTTP site, or we can upload to space provided by the client

• Upload Scripts to Business Availability Center

  If the scripts are created for monitoring Business Processes in production using Business Availability Center, we can upload scripts there.
